DRAKE CARR / SERVICE

August 4 - August 27

Drake Carr (b. 1993, Flint, Michigan) is a New York-based artist. In Service, Carr presents an exhibition of new work including paintings, sculptures, and drawings, curated by Tony Jackson. Service spans two galleries and features an installation heavily inspired by scenes from the bar where the artist works. While the exhibition features symbolic objects like a bar-top and tip jar, the essence of the dive bar comes to life in portraits and sculptures of the venue’s patrons and performers. Larger-than-life characters line the walls, hang from the ceiling, and wait for something- a drink or attention- at the bar. Service is both love letter and hate mail addressed to the service industry- those serving, and those being served.

The exhibition opens on Thursday, Aug 4th and runs through Aug 27th at SITUATIONS and FIERMAN. The galleries are open Wednesday - Saturday, 12 - 6pm in the summer. Both are located at 127 Henry Street, NYC. Write to david@fierman.nyc for more information.
