On January 18, please join a group of artists and arts professionals to raise money and awareness for No More Deaths, a non-profit organization in Southern Arizona working to protect the lives of migrants through advocacy and by providing food, water and medical assistance. Join us for an auction evening to view and bid on donated art from artists to support this cause. Participating artists include Mierle Laderman Ukeles, Andra Ursata, Michael Bauer, Sam McKinniss, Amy Sillman, Betty Tompkins, AL Steiner,  Eli Hansen and many others. Enjoy complimentary food from Roberta's, wine from Bloomer Creek Vineyards and beer from Alphabet City Brewing Company. Learn more about the mission and challenges faced by No More Deaths from long-term volunteer Catherine Gaffney. Buy advance tickets for $25 or $30 at the door.

All proceeds from art and ticket sales go to the humanitarian organization No More Deaths, which works to end death and suffering on the U.S.-Mexico border. In the last decade, thousands of men, women, and children have died in the southern Arizona borderlands. No More Deaths volunteers engage in direct humanitarian intervention, providing food, water and medical aid to migrants and refugees in distress. Donate directly to No More Deaths here.

“Artists bring profound and pressing social issues to the fore in ways that go beyond sound bites,” said David Fierman, auction chair and director of FIERMAN gallery. “By engaging NYC’s creative community, the No More Deaths Benefit is leveraging the power of art to concrete good at a grassroots level.”

“With a hardline presidential administration set to take office in 2017, this decades-long humanitarian crisis will only intensify—and the work of No More Deaths is more important than ever,” said Catherine Gaffney, a long-term volunteer with the organization. “This auction will provide crucial support as we step up our efforts to respond to the growing threat to migrant lives.”

The January 18 premiere event begins at 7 p.m. at Salon 94 Freemans (1 Freeman Alley). The online auction, hosted by Paddle8 will run from January 18 through January 31, 2017.
